Space words in English for kids: 78 words with pictures

These are the 78 English words children find in space in Kadoo: the rocket and the planetarium. Each word has the picture children see in the app and the voice that says it, and every room's words print as flashcards.

Kadoo's space, the place children explore in the app

Space opens tenth: a rocket and a planetarium, with the planets, comets and astronaut gear that curious children ask about.

Kadoo opens its places in order of how early children usually learn their words, measured with the age-of-acquisition ratings of Kuperman, Stadthagen-Gonzalez and Brysbaert (2012), in which adults estimated the age at which they learned 30,000 English words.

  • On a clear evening, look for the moon together and say "moon"; find its card the next day.
  • Count down from ten in English and "launch" a toy rocket.
  • Lay out the planet cards and play "Which one is Earth?", then let your child ask you.

Learn them in Kadoo

In Kadoo, an Explorer says each word, a puppy shows where the thing is and a little hand shows how to tap, drag or color, so children who can't read yet can play on their own. Words they find go into their Backpack and come back on later days, mixed with new ones. Space opens with Kadoo Full Access or Family Plus. Kadoo on the App Store.
