These are the 243 English words children find on a trip in Kadoo: the check-in, the souvenir shop, the cockpit, the cabin, London, Paris, Tokyo and Moscow. Each word has the picture children see in the app and the voice that says it, and every room's words print as flashcards.

Kadoo's travel, the place children explore in the app

Travel opens last. Children check in, board a plane, visit the cockpit and the cabin, and land in London, Paris, Tokyo and Moscow, each with its landmarks and food.

Kadoo opens its places in order of how early children usually learn their words, measured with the age-of-acquisition ratings of Kuperman, Stadthagen-Gonzalez and Brysbaert (2012), in which adults estimated the age at which they learned 30,000 English words.

Practice them at home

  • Look at a map or a globe and find the four cities; say one thing from each.
  • Play airport: one of you checks in the other's suitcase and hands over a ticket.
  • Cook or taste one food from the cities' lists, and name it in English.

Learn them in Kadoo

In Kadoo, an Explorer says each word, a puppy shows where the thing is and a little hand shows how to tap, drag or color, so children who can't read yet can play on their own. Words they find go into their Backpack and come back on later days, mixed with new ones. Travel opens with Kadoo Full Access or Family Plus. Kadoo on the App Store.

Kadoo is free to download.

For iPhone and iPad, and Macs with Apple silicon. The house is free to play; Kadoo Full Access or Kadoo Family Plus opens the whole town.
